On the old regime, section 80C deductions for LIC, PPF, ELSS, and tuition fee are allowed up to ₹1,50,000. On the new regime they are not allowed. The new regime is the default under section 115BAC. You choose before the return is filed.
The income tax calculator calls that a usual cap of ₹1.5 lakh, old regime only, and only where that section fits. Home-loan principal may qualify under section 80C, up to ₹1.5 lakh, only where that section applies. Interest under section 24(b) is a different row on the income-tax filing page.
Section 80D medical insurance, 80G donations, and NPS under section 80CCD(1B) are separate proofs on the filing page. This page does not state their limits. Employer NPS under section 80CCD(2) is a different row on that table. The section 87A rebate is not this deduction.
After the return is filed, e-verify within 30 days. The return is quoted before it is filed. The first discussion is free.
